Scouting at Kaira Konko
The Scout Group which has over one hundred boy and girl Scouts meets every Friday evening at the Lodge. Meetings are run by Mbake, the Assistant Manager of Kaira Konko and Modou the Cup Pack leader.
Scouting is well respected in The Gambia and Kaira Konko will help each and every proud Scout to have a better education, a sense of community and a brighter future. The Scouts value education and are very keen to maximise their potential which, without assistance from Kaira Konko, may not always be possible. Kaira Konko runs English classes and offers the opportunity for the Scouts to come and do their homework as there is always light in the evenings, powered by solar panels when the electricity is off.
Kaira Konko is not the only Scout group in the region, there are also Scout Groups at Jiroff (where the original HSX expedition camped) and across the country. Lamin Kinteh, Mbake and the other Scouts at Kaira Konko are forming good relations with other Scout Groups so that together they are able to share skills and experiences and promote Scouting in The Gambia.
