Kaira Konko supports Soma and the surrounding communities in a variety of ways. All of our community work is coordinated locally.

  • Rice Fund – through regular donations, Kaira Konko distributes rice to the neediest families within the local community.

  • Education – Kaira Konko sponsors local Scouts through school. Primary education is free but a child needs footwear, school uniform and stationery before they can attend school, all of which are out of financial reach for a large number of families. For post-primary education tuition fees and books are required. Kaira Konko sponsors those young people who are involved in Scouting, motivated at school and willing to give back to the local community.

  • Community Projects – proceeds from the lodge are used to fund small community projects such as repairing homes damaged during the annual rainy season. KK SAS fundraises for and facilitates larger community projects, which are often undertaken with the assistance of Scout, school or other group expeditions staying at Kaira Konko.
