The project at Soma School was the first large scale undertaking after the Scout Centre was completed in 1998. In 1999 the Soma School Millenium Appeal was launched to expand and refurbish the school which served 1500 local pupils in increasingly delapidated surroundings.
Support for the school is ongoing, and in conjunction with a number of groups the school now has 16 classroom buildings, a thriving garden providing food and hands on experience to students, a music and drama programme, and nationally competitive sports teams.
